THE BUS   

CARTS Transit operates THE BUS, the San Marcos municipal bus service. THE BUS offers regular service connecting neighborhoods and downtown businesses for citizens, visitors, and students. All fixed route services offer wheelchair accessible vehicles.

Texas State Students ride THE BUS locally for free. Just show your Texas State I.D.

Paratransit    

THE BUS operated by CARTS provides medical transportation and an equivalent accessible transportation option to people who are unable to use the fixed-route bus service because of a disability. THE BUS provides rides, from origin to destination, within the city limits of San Marcos.

Community Transit service provides curb-to-curb transportation throughout Central Texas to customers in the CARTS rural service area. To schedule your ride call 1-800-456-RIDE (7433)


Interurban Bus    

The interurban, or intercity, public transport bus service carries passengers between different cities. CARTS vehicles are equipped with easy to use front-mounted bike racks. For instructions visit the How-To RideCARTS website or ask the driver.

CARTS Gold Route - Interurban Coach 1517

This interurban bus runs from the downtown Austin CARTS Station to Southpark Meadows, to Texas State University, to the San Marcos CARTS Station. .

CARTS Yellow Route - Interurban Coach 1510

This interurban bus runs from Georgetown to San Marcos, with stops in Round Rock & Austin.

San Marcos is served by the Texas Eagle, which travels daily between Chicago and San Antonio traveling through major cities like Austin and Dallas.
